ubiquitous shopping cartsHi all, I am so right-brain dominant and I get tons of inquires to not only design a new web site, but to create a customized shopping cart with it - to match their site which would essentially BE the site. Zen Cart, CKGold are some of the most popular (at least what they ask me about). They want to be able to update their store as well, which I know can be quite simple once they poke around the backend and get basic intructions on how to do so. My question - is there anyone out there that would either like to work with me on this (always jobs to do), or-r-r-r, show/teach me how to? I would pay of course, and if you'd like to work together, we can figure out a subcontracting cost, or however you'd like to do it. Or work with me a few times until I "get it"? Anyone? or any suggestions?

osCommerce
You could look into this as a solution. Personal, I do it all by hand. Quite time consuming, but I know what I'm getting at least... well most of the time. UPS is a drag!

My friend uses this on a small site I made for him. Not really sure how it's working for him.
ZenCart
I've used ZenCart for one site. It can be overkill for a small site, but I don't have a lot of experience with packaged solutions. (I typically work with custom carts developed by my partner.)
Any chance you can make it to the next meeting? This is definitely a topic worth discussing.
Love to
Yes, I would definitely like to make the next meeting, although I have to say, I felt a bit out of my element at one of the Meetup web design meetings... everyone else seemed to know more of the programming side of things than I did/do. Maybe it was just the topic of the evening.
Worth another go at it though!

Diversity
Kitty, we've got a diverse group, but we're trying to find a good balance between the design aspect and the programming aspect. Some of us do get a bit geeky at times, so let us know if you want more design-focused material, and we'll see what we can do.
